Sunday Morning Youth Group:

Calling ALL 6th – 12th grade students! YOU are invited to join us for Sunday morning faith formation and relationship building from 10:30 – 11:15 am, in our new and improved youth room (205). We use the “Taking Faith Home” Lectionary Series or other devotional guides and videos as a starting point for learning, Bible reflection to deepen our understanding of God’s word, and group discussion to learn how our faith both helps us in everyday situations and shapes how we evaluate current events. If you stop in often enough, you will quickly learn we are occasionally treated to a doughnut or two! Make sure to bring your friends often – because at Christ the King, all are welcome!

For all 6th through 8th grade students, classes are on Wednesday evenings, 7:30 – 8:30 pm. This three year curriculum focuses on Luther’s Small Catechism, the Bible, and living out our Baptismal Call in our everyday lives. Our time together includes study, prayer, skits, videos, music and discussion. We welcome questions and doubts. Classes will resume this fall. Contact the church office for more information.

2018 ELCA National Youth Gathering

Next summer, any youth who has completed 8th grade and up is eligible to travel with us to Houston, TX for the tri-annual ELCA National Youth Gathering. Attend the Gathering and let your faith grow when you experience awesome speakers, participate in fun activities and rock out to Christian music. The National Youth Gathering is nation-wide weeklong event designed to build a caring community among youth and adults, grow a faith in Jesus Christ and develop healthy relationships among peers. WE HAVE SET A GOAL TO COLLECT INITIAL DEPOSITS BY SEPTEMBER 13th SO CTK CAN MEET THE EARLY-BIRD REGISTRATION DEADLINE. Contact Geoff Layman or Matt Douhan with any questions.

Family Movie and Games Night – February 10th at 4 – 7 pm

Join us on Saturday, Feb. 10, for family fellowship and fun here at CtK. The Youth Crew (6th – 12th grades) will have the option of watching the 2017 thought-provoking movie, “The Shack”, in the youth room or a family movie with younger children in Van Oort Hall. Then we’ll all come together for a pizza supper and fun games of all kinds. This will be a great time for not only the kids to have fun, but the parents to connect with each other as well! Please sign up in the narthex, or on the Youth board, or contact Faith Jordan at See you there!

Locked in to Service 2018 – March 3-4

Every year in the month of March, our youth make a big effort to serve our community. This year’s service event will keep us busy doing several projects all day on Saturday, March 3, then we’ll re-group back here at CtK, for an evening of fun and fellowship, and an overnight lock-in. Sunday morning will include breakfast, attending the 9:30 worship together, and then a special Sunday school class. All 6th through 12th graders are encouraged to be a part of this meaningful and fun event! Watch for more info to come.

Mystery Dinner Fundraiser – March 23rd at 6:30 pm

A Vintage Who-Done-It Dinner and Mystery Fundraiser for 2018 National Youth Gathering! Youth help is needed for this fun event. This is the general invitation:
YOU are invited to join us in Van Oort Hall the evening of MARCH 23rd at 6:30pm to solve a mystery… Be a VIP guest to the last wine auction the Tortellini Brother’s Winery will ever hold. You must have heard the news by now. The historical winery is being sold due to the death of its owner Georgio Tortellini. And it’s such a crime! Literally. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to solve a suspicious death (or two). Are you up to the challenge? Invite your friends and neighbors to this fun fellowship event! $100/table of 8 or $15 per person.

Youth Assistant Ministers

If you’re interested in being regularly involved in serving the worship life of the congregation, we have an opportunity for you! Youth Assistant Ministers (those who lead the congregation in the spoken Prayers of the People, the Offertory Prayer, the Communion Prayer, and the Dismissal) are paired with an adult at the 11:15 Service and are scheduled on a rotating basis year round. If you are considering serving in this way, please contact Matt Douhan for more information.
