. Worship at
Christ the King Lutheran Church The congregation
of Christ the King gathers weekly around Word and Sacrament. With Christians around
the world we come together on the first day of the week, the first day of creation
when God brought light into darkness and the day on which Christ rose from the
dead. The baptized gather to hear the
Word, pray for those in need, offer thanks to God for the gift of salvation, receive
the bread of life and the cup of blessing, and be renewed for their daily witness
in the world. To guests, strangers, and all those in the need the Church offers
the good gifts of God's grace. Worship
at Christ the King follows the Liturgical order of Gathering, Word, Meal, and
Sending.
 |
Gathering The
gathering of the community may begin with a confession of sin and/or an entrance
hymn or gathering songs. God's welcome is extended to the congregation by the
presiding pastor for the day. A Litany, Hymn of Praise, or Kyrie may be sung immediately
before the Prayer of the Day. Through these actions those assembled prepare to
hear the Word of God. | |
| Word The
Church hears the good news of God's action in this and every time and place through
the rich treasure of the Scripture. The Word is proclaimed through readings from
Old and New Testaments, the singing of Psalms, silence, sermon, and the singing
of hymns. The gathered community declares its faith and prays for the Church,
the world, and all those who suffer or who are in need. | |

Meal To
the table of the Lord are brought bread and wine, simple signs of God's love and
of human labor. In word, gesture, prayer and song the people lift their hearts
in praise and thanksgiving for the gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation.
The pastor asks that the Holy Spirit unite the community in the meal so that as
one body in Christ it may proclaim God's salvation in the world. The people respond
with "Amen" before praying together the Lord's Prayer. All baptized
Christians, regardless of denominational affiliation, are welcome at this table,
for it is the Lord who is the host of this meal. Here all are united with God
in Christ, with each other, and with the Church's mission in the world. |
|
| Sending Worship
ends simply. The community receives the blessing of God, and all are invited to
go in peace to serve the Lord in word and deed, to share the good news they have
heard, to care for those in need, and to share of what they have received with
the poor and the hungry | |
| From Gathering to Sending,
worshipers are called together to worship God and receive encouragement, forgiveness,
challenge, and equipment for their daily mission to shine the light of Christ
in all they do and say. The Liturgy's dramatic movement and emphasis on participation
in that movement by all who are present provide opportunity for worshipers to
experience a foretaste God's kingdom in all its fullness at the end of time. Worship
services are Sunday mornings at 8:15, 9:30 and 11:00 in the sanctuary. |
