Christ the King Lutheran Church members may submit Mission Fund requests to the Mission Coordinator, Jill Harms, via e-mail at jjharms@iastate.edu or via the church office. The Mission Coordinator will review and compile all the necessary information and submit eligible requests to the Mission Fund team that consists of the Executive Committee of the congregation (Council officers & Pastors) in consultation with the Mission Coordinator.
 
Request eligibility:
 

• Grants can be made to ministries independent of CtK or to ministries that originate at CtK. 
• An example of an outside mission would be a grant given to any of the local organizations in the community where a CtK member already volunteers. An internal grant recipient would be a ministry such as the Jamaica Mission Team or the Mission Africa team.
• Ministries outside of CtK must have a mission in line with CtK’s mission statement, “As the body of Christ, we are called and sent to love and serve the world.”
• At least one CtK member must participate in the activities of the organization.
• The grant request must be for a project or capital need that has not yet taken place. Grants will not be awarded to reimburse for expenses already incurred.
• Requests can be for program support, program supplies and capital needs that contribute to the care of the people served by the ministry.
• Grants may be distributed in a lump sum or as needed throughout the year.

 
Approval Process:
 

• Submit the grant application to the Mission Coordinator as instructed above.
• The Executive Committee will meet within one month of receiving an application. These meetings will be open in order for applicants to share additional information if needed and to answer questions from the committee.
• The Executive Committee’s deliberation will be in a closed meeting.
• Grants will be awarded within one week of approval.
• The Mission Coordinator will notify the grant applicant of the Executive Committee’s decision.

 
Grant Recipient Responsibilities:

• The grantee will provide a report (available online or included with the grant award) within the specified date on the grant award detailing how the funds were used.
• If the entirety of the grant funds were not used by the report date, then they must be returned to CtK. 
• Only grantees completing the necessary reports will be eligible to receive future grants.
