September 13 is going to be a fun-filled day at CtK. Pack a lunch and plan to spend the morning social distancing with your CtK family.
This is the official date of the 2020 God’s Work, Our Hands (GWOH)—and COVID-19 will not stop us Lutherans
from doing God’s work. Join us either on Sunday, September 13, or later in the month to do missional activities for our community. This year’s GWOH will involve the following community organizations:
Center for the Homeless, Christ Child Society, CtK Rummage Sale, Cultivate Culinary, and Sole Hope.
God’s Work, Our Hands Activities at CtK on September 13 (All Outside)
• Healthwin Mums: Donate $6 to purchase mums for Healthwin Specialized Care. Order forms, which are available at the church office, at Drive-In Worship and online can be turned in at
these three same locations.
• CtK Rummage Sale Clothing Sort: The annual rummage sale had to be postponed, but
donations keep coming in. Join us to help sort clothes that will be stored until the next sale.
• Sole Hope: Many people in Uganda suffer from a parasite called jiggers. One way to prevent jiggers is by wearing shoes. We’ll work together using a pattern to make shoes that will be
sent to Uganda.
• CtK College Care Packages: This is an uncertain time for all of us, especially our CtK youth who are in college. Stop by to write inspirational messages in greeting cards or help assemble care packages for our CtK college students.
• Christ Child Society: Throughout the month of September, you may drop off new or gently used children’s clothes in the Christ Child Society bin in the narthex. Christ Child Society provides clothing to children up to 12 years of age.
• Storybook Reading: Bring your favorite children’s book to God’s Work Our Hands and get recorded reading it for Swanson Elementary School. Teachers are finding it difficult to take a break while teaching virtual school. Swanson is requesting community members to record themselves reading a children’s book, providing the teachers a small window of time to take a break. Bring your selected book the nursery during God’s Work Our Hands between 10:30 and 11:45 a.m.
• The Roach Brothers: Enjoy a lawn-chair concert to benefit the Center for the Homeless! The Roach Brothers will perform Cajun and Irish music, old-time hymns, and more from 11:30 a.m. to noon. This concert is a benefit for the Center for the Homeless. No donation is too large or too small!
